Embrace the night
“Loved the track through the bush. Great to do something different – running in the evening/ night”.
Walking / running in bush is a magical experience -there’ll be a warm up with a difference – grooving with Clubbercise.
Then music and lights to energise you as you power up 1.8 km with 710 steps to the Look Out for sunset and a stunning view. Then down 6.2 km of beautifully graded zig zag Te Ara Utiwai track back to Camp Elsdon- where you can finish and socialise or do another lap. Do two laps and you’ll have climbed higher than Sky Tower – now that’s a challenge!
A gorgeous track complete with streams, waterfalls, nikau groves, epic views and glow worms if you’re lucky.

DISTANCES: 8 km or 16km (1 or 2 laps)
ENTRY OPTIONS – individual or youth (8-17 years).
START / FINISH – Camp Elsdon
REGISTRATION – Saturday – 5.00pm- 6.15pm at Camp Elsdon
START TIMES – walkers – 6.45 pm, runners 7.05pm
Sunset is at 7.30pm in time for you all to reach the Look Out by sunset so you can descend in dusk and dark.

There’s more to an event than just how fast you go, supporting a charity in an event gives you a warm glow and a sense of achievement by raising funds and it’s an opportunity to promote a cause close to your heart.

The start and finish line is at Camp Elsdon, which will be transformed for the night with music and lights. The course is very sheltered, through beautiful native bush, and the track is well formed and all off road.
The track itself is not illuminated – all participants must wear a headlamp or have a good handheld flashlight. Good torches do a great job of lighting up the track. A backup light source is strongly recommended, in case your main light dies during the event.
First Aid will be based at Camp Elsdon and marshals on the course.
Registration is on Saturday – 5.00pm – 6.15pm at Camp Elsdon
Warm up at 6.30, walk starts at 6.45 Runners – 7.05pm
Course will close at 10.15 pm (due to noise restrictions)
Walkers – allow 1.5 – 2 hours to do one lap
Cut off times
16km walkers will need to have started their 2nd loop by 8.30 pm
16km runners – will have to start their 2nd loop by 9pm
All walkers must have left the top by 8.45pm. Runners by 9.20pm
Supported by –
8 km – participants must be 8 years or older
16 km – participants must be 14 years or over
All children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Refunds will incur a $15.00 administration fee.
There will be no refunds within 7 days of the event. In the case of a natural disaster, closure of the forest due to high winds or other uncontrollable factors, “Act of God” conditions causing the cancellation of the event, entry fees will not be refunded.
Transfers to another person cannot be made. No transfers to other events or future years are permitted.

Transport and Parking
There is no parking permitted within the venue. Please park on the road.
We encourage people to car pool, it helps save our planet and reduces congestion. Better yet, take public transport.
If you’re from out of town and want to collapse after your efforts and wake up to the thrill of native bird song! Camp Elsdon has a variety of options, from lodge rooms and cabins to dormitories and campervan or tent sites.

ZERO Waste Policy
We are committed to zero waste so leave no trace!
To reduce waste tap water will be available and participants need to bring their own water bottles.
Please leave the tracks in beautiful condition so don’t drop litter and take home all your own rubbish and recycle.
